To assure that new and expanding businesses have a continuing pool of workers with the level of education and expertise required for their operations, area colleges and universities, vocational/technical schools and high schools all train entry-level personnel on a year-round basis. Schools at all levels are augmenting their general educational curriculum with programs explicitly designed to meet employment possibilities.

There are two 4-year universities and one 2-year college within an hour's drive of most of Jefferson Davis Parish. Doctoral degrees are available in the arts, sciences, engineering, medical, and legal fields.

There are two state-funded and parish-supported regional technical institutes within proximity to Jefferson Davis Parish: SOWELA Technical Community College, with an enrollment of 1,396 people, in Calcasieu Parish, and the SOWELA Technical Community College - Morgan Smith Site with 336 students, in Jefferson Davis Parish.
