Parish Government
Jefferson Davis Parish parish offices are located in Jennings. The Jeff Davis Parish Police Jury is the governing authority and each town and city is governed by a mayor and/ an alderman or council.
Unlike most elected officials, police jurors possess both administrative and legislative powers. Its legislative functions include enacting ordinances and resolutions, establishing programs, and setting policies. As an administrative body, it prepares a budget, hires personnel, spends funds, negotiates contracts, and, in general, directs these and all other activities under its supervision.
